Peru's top eight athletes will compete at the IAAF World Championships London 2017 on 4-13 August.

The national team comprises major runner Ines Melchor, Wilma Arizapana, Wily Canchanya, Jeanpierre Castro and Raul Machacuay, who will participate in the marathon category.

Kimberly Garcia and Cesar Rodriguez will be representing the Andean nation in the race walk.


Likewise, Rio Olympic finalist David Torrence will contest the 1500m.


Both Ines Melchor and Jeanpierre Castro have been training in Spain for a month.

Raul Machacuay, Kimberly Garcia and Cesar Rodriguez, on the other hand, are in Huancayo city (Peru) finalizing details of their appearance at the world event.

It was reported Arizapana remains in Puno city (Peru), Wily Canchanya is training in Mexico, and David Torrence will be leaving the United States for London. 


The Athletics Federation trainers include Rodolfo Gomez and Pedro Cañizares. 

It must be noted said sportsmen and women belong to the Athlete Support Program (PAD) of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD).

In addition, six of them have joined Top Peru 2019, the team comprising national athletes who will represent the Inca nation during the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima.
