Peru's coach Ricardo Gareca on Friday affirmed the red-white squad is prepared to neutralize opponents who rely on great aerial control, as the Incas have the ideal height for the World Cup tournament.
"We are used to playing against teams whose strength is aerial control. We have defended well in most matches of this type,"
Gareca told reporters when asked about Denmark, Peru's first rival at the mega event.
In addition, the coach thanked the support received from all Peruvians who have traveled to Russia.
"It is a spectacle to see
Peruvian fans in all parts of the world we visit. We know we rely on their support. It does not surprise us, but fills us with energy (...)," he noted.
On the other hand,
Gareca remarked he will wait until the last minute to decide the starting lineup for this
Saturday's game.
As is known, Peru will face Denmark at Saransk's Mordovia Arena on June 16 at 7:00 PM (local time).
