China’s Trade Office in Peru confirmed Chinese participation in Expo Amazonica San Martin 2017, set to be held August 10-13 in jungle cities of Moyobamba and Tarapoto, Governor Victor Noriega Reategui announced.
The regional authority referred to his meeting with Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Peru, Hao Qinmei, who pledged to invite Chinese entrepreneurs to take part in the fair. She also said names of firms and businesspeople willing to participate will be released soon.
According to Noriega, the event will see the presence of the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Peru, and a Chinese Pavilion is likely to be set up at the fair’s facilities.
“It is important to promote what the Amazon area offers to Peru and the world. We plan to hold similar meetings with other countries, seeking their participation at this fair, which is due to bring 16 countries and more than 10 Peruvian regions together,” the regional governor concluded.
According to San Martin’s Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur), the exhibit is projected to attract over 40,000 visitors, including locals and foreigners.
The event will feature 400 exhibition stands from Peruvian producer associations, entrepreneurs and craftspeople, as well as signature products from Inter-Regional Amazon Council (CIAM) regions in a bid to articulate the Amazon supply with national and foreign markets.
Besides representatives from Loreto, Ucayali, Amazonas, Madre de Dios and Huanuco, CIAM regions, the fair will host delegations from Puno, Junin, Pasco, Cusco, Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Ancash and Cajamarca offering the best of their gastronomy, traditions and natural products.
