Peru’s total exports grew 6.6% last December from the same month in 2016, due to higher shipments of traditional (+9.27%) and non-traditional (+0.21%) products, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported Thursday.
According to INEI, the most demanded
traditional products were those derived from mining and petroleum-natural gas sectors.
Nevertheless, fishing and agriculture activities decreased in the analyzed month.
As for
non-traditional shipments, textile, chemical, metal-mechanic, and iron-steel sectors stood out. However, fishery exports saw a decline.
Imports

Likewise, consumer goods purchases increased 1.42%, plus
imports of capital goods and construction materials rose 0.43%.
It must be noted Peru's total imports grew 9.76% in December 2017, if compared to the same month the previous year.
