Inter-American Commission on Human Rights begins visit to Peru

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) on Tuesday morning announced the start of a technical visit to our country —at the request of the Peruvian Government.

As reported by the IACHR via its official Twitter account, Executive-Secretary Tania Reneaum and her team will meet with State authorities and organizations in Peru.

The aim is to receive information on the institutional crisis and protests.

"From December 20 to 22, they will be in Lima and other areas in the country," the organization added on social media.

On December 16, Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Gervasi announced that, as a sign of Peru's commitment to human rights, an invitation had been extended to the IACHR —the same one that was accepted.
