The official explained that this conclusion was reached considering that Peru is still far from the number of international tourists who had visited this country before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, foreign revenue is close to matching pre-pandemic levels.
"For 2024, inbound tourism is projected to reach 3,481,554 trips by international tourists to Peru, representing a growth of 37.9% compared to 2023, when it reached 2,524,658 foreign visitors," Tirado indicated.
"Besides, there would be an 80% recovery compared to pre-pandemic figures (4,371,787 international tourists)," she added.
"We have also seen a good recovery in tourist flows from Asia and Oceania, which are markets that generate high spending; therefore, it is important to continue working there," she stated.
Tirado indicated that
PromPeru is working on a
four-pillar strategy: campaigns at the international and national levels; strategic alliances to consolidate inbound and domestic tourism through offers of tickets and accommodations; strengthening the commercial channel for regional companies to sell their products and services; and high-impact events such as
Peru Mucho Gusto gastronomy fair or the
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.
