on Monday paid tribute to Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa, stating that he leaves an indelible mark on literary history and that his career has been recognized with the highest honors, such as the Nobel Prize in Literature.
The Head of State highlighted that the legacy of the acclaimed novelist, who passed away the day before, transcends borders and generations.
The top official added that his masterful, lucid, and critical pen shed light on the complexity of his biography, family environment, and Latin American politics.
"Mario Vargas Llosa leaves an indelible mark on literary history; an author of monumental works, he was able to portray with depth and courage the political, moral, and human tensions of the region," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
The president emphasized that Vargas Llosa's career was recognized with the highest honors, including the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Cervantes Prize, the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature, and honorary doctorates from the most prestigious universities.
"Today, Peru and the world bid farewell to a distinguished Peruvian of universal stature. As a sign of respect and gratitude for his intellectual legacy, I invite you to stand and observe a minute of silence in memory of our beloved and universally admired writer, Mario Vargas Llosa," she said.
