The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, on Friday stated that Congress will have to evaluate the Cabinet based on the actions and measures adopted since they assumed office, ahead of the Council of Ministers' presentation to request a confidence vote on March 18.

"In this case, it will have to evaluate us based on the actions we are taking in the very short time we have been in government. We are acting swiftly by issuing a series of very important measures in the Official Gazette El Peruano," Balcazar indicated when asked about the presentation of the Cabinet headed by Denisse Miralles before Congress to request a confidence vote.

The Head of State reported that an important measure concerning social debts owed to persons with disabilities in the country will be published between Monday and Tuesday.

"An important measure will be issued; they (legislators) will have to evaluate us based on those actions," he noted.

The President said lawmakers act reasonably and, therefore, will listen to the ministers' presentation before making a decision.

The top official reiterated his absolute respect for parliamentary privilege.

Likewise, he underscored the importance of meetings with parliamentary groups prior to requesting the confidence vote on Wednesday.

In turn, Prime Minister Miralles said that in her meetings with parliamentary groups the work carried out by the Executive Branch has been presented, and that they help manage the 100 days remaining of the administration until July of this year.

"From now until July, and with 30 days remaining before the elections, we must give our country the tranquility and stability it needs. That is part of the agenda we are seeking to pursue," she explained.

Moreover, the government's spokeswoman reiterated that "this Cabinet has no political quotas."

She added that the resignation of former Health Minister Luis Quiroz was the result of a personal decision.
