The National Citizen Security Plan was approved by the National Citizen Security Council (Conasec) on Thursday after being debated during its first ordinary session of 2026.
The document will be presented by President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, this Friday.
In this regard, the Head of State said the new security plan will be the government's legacy for all Peruvians and a roadmap toward building a safe country.
"The plan will serve as the roadmap toward a safe country, because a safe country is an attractive destination for investment, and greater investment means greater State capacity to close gaps and address citizens' demands," Jeri indicated during Conasec's opening session.
In presenting the proposal, the top official emphasized that its content is the result of multisectoral work and consensus, as well as the firm commitment of those institutions engaged in the fight against insecurity.
"It is important to recognize everyone's contribution. Beyond constitutional and legal obligations, there is the willingness of authorities, because without willingness there are no results—only formalities," Jeri pointed out.
The plan is a different kind of tool, with mechanisms to measure both immediate and long-term results, allowing continued coordination of efforts to restore the climate of peace and calm to which all Peruvians are entitled, he added.
The Head of State reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening the response to organized crime and delinquency.
"Every plan can be improved, but we must have a tool that unites us in this war we are going to win," he concluded.
