The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, announced that the natural gas system for service stations will reopen on Saturday, March 14, allowing the refueling of vehicles to begin.

At a press conference on Tuesday evening, the Head of State announced that the natural gas distribution system for Metropolitan Lima and Callao region is expected to be fully restored by Sunday, March 15.

The top official said Transportadora de Gas del Peru (TGP) expects to complete the installation of pipes on Friday, March 13, for the gas pipeline repair in Megantoni (Cusco region), which will allow the process of normalizing gas supply in the country to begin immediately.

"On Saturday, March 14, the gas system for service stations will reopen, which will allow the resumption of natural gas distribution for vehicles and the progressive start of supply at fuel outlets," Balcazar pointed out.

That same day—he said—the system will be open to all industrial sectors, ensuring that public transportation and companies can once again access the fuel.

"With this orderly and responsible process, we expect that by Sunday, March 15, the gas distribution system will be fully restored in Lima and Callao," he indicated.

In addition, given a better scenario than initially expected, the Head of State announced that school classes at educational institutions in Lima and Callao will be able to resume in-person service starting this Wednesday.

It will be possible—he noted—due to the optimization of fuel use and mobility in the city.

Likewise, the President announced that the start of school classes across the country is guaranteed for Monday, March 16.
