Peru: Government strongly condemns act of violence reported in Washington D.C.

The Peruvian Government strongly condemned the act of violence reported Saturday during an event attended by United States President Donald Trump in Washington D.C.

The Government's position was conveyed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement issued after the event.

"The Government of Peru expresses its strongest condemnation of the deplorable act of violence reported tonight in Washington D.C., during the Annual Dinner of the White House Correspondents' Association, and welcomes with satisfaction the confirmation that all attendees at the event, among whom were the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, the First Lady, and Cabinet members, are out of danger," the statement said.

"Peru expresses its solidarity with the Government and people of the United States of America over the events that occurred," it added.
