Peru was elected by acclamation as a member of five mechanisms at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in elections held Wednesday at the UN headquarters in New York.

This appointment strengthens Peru's participation in key forums focused on sustainable development and the fight against organized crime.

Among the bodies in which it will participate, the country will serve on the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) for the 2027–2029 term; the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), starting in 2027 for a four-year term; and the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations for the 2027–2030 term.

Additionally, Peru was elected as a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for the 2027–2029 term.

At these forums, Peru will promote dialogue, international cooperation, and the adoption of recommendations aimed at addressing global challenges, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
