The Crime Prevention Prosecutor's Office in Southern Lima is carrying out proceedings at a warehouse of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), located in Lima's Lurin district, as part of inquiries into the loss of electoral material used in the 2026 General Elections.

The purpose of the visit is to determine compliance with the duties of the National Elections Board (JNE) as the supervisory body overseeing ONPE.

A team led by Provincial Prosecutor Ricardo Walter Lopez, at the request of the JNE's Directorate of Oversight and Electoral Processes, is participating in the verification of the existence of voting material used on April 12.

The National Directorate of Oversight and Electoral Processes (DNFPE) is a line body under the Central Directorate of Institutional Management.

Likewise, it is responsible for carrying out the supervisory function of the JNE.

In this capacity, it continuously formulates, proposes, and implements plans and actions to fulfill this role.

The DNFPE conducts its activities during both electoral and non-electoral periods, in accordance with the current legal framework and within the scope of the powers assigned to the JNE.

Its work is aimed at safeguarding respect for the popular will, ensuring transparency in electoral processes, referendums, and other public consultations, as well as overseeing the approval of a proper electoral roll, supervising procedures, and providing technical assistance under signed agreements, among other duties.
