Peru: Prime Minister reviews results of anti-illegal mining strategy

Prime Minister Luis Arroyo Sanchez led a meeting with senior officials from the Peruvian National Police and Navy to assess the first-quarter results of the strategy against illegal mining.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) reported via X that the government has carried out more than 1,000 operations so far this year.

"We are strengthening the national strategy against illegal mining!" the PCM stated.

Likewise, it announced that the strategy against illegal mining will be intensified with nearly 3,500 additional operations in the coming months.

It said that, within this effort, the Navy strengthened its presence in river zones, destroying 130 illegal devices and removing 354.6 kilograms of gold from the illicit circuit.

Strengthening the production chain

The Prime Minister's Office reported on the coordinated work it is carrying out to strengthen the rice production chain.

As part of this effort, Prime Minister Luis Arroyo Sanchez held a meeting with Economy Minister Rodolfo Acuña and representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Agrarian Development and Irrigation, and Production.

During the audience, measures were advanced to address the main demands of this productive sector, strengthen commercialization, and consolidate the rice production chain nationwide.
