Peru records better performance in coronavirus control

14:33 | Lima, Apr. 13.

Peru shows a performance better than countries in Europe and the Americas concerning the daily evolution of the coronavirus disease growth, according to sources such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC), President Martin Vizcarra stressed on Monday afternoon.

This information, used to make a diagnosis of the four weeks of state of emergency, suggests that there is a "positive effect" of the measures implemented by the Executive Branch.

However, the Head of State underlined that this does not mean that everything will return to normal on Monday, April 27, the date on which the quarantine would be lifted, as this will be a gradual process, which will go hand-in-hand with a very detailed control of the activities.

It has to be this way because the progress made could be lost, he warned.

Additionally, the top official announced plans for a gradual resumption of daily life and an assessment for each activity in the next two weeks, which includes the implementation of some measures that are being discussed by the Council of Ministers.

On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Monday marks the twenty-ninth day of mandatory social isolation.
