Defense Minister Rafael Belaunde stated on Sunday that his sector made a Spartan C-27 aircraft available to the Interior Ministry for the deportation of three Venezuelan nationals who are members of the Tren de Aragua criminal organization.
The move is part of the Armed Forces' support in the fight against crime.
The government official said the deportation operation is being carried out in strict compliance with the guidelines issued by President Keiko Fujimori.
"We have made the Spartan C-27 aircraft available to the Interior Ministry. Its mission is to deport foreign criminals, but it is also a humanitarian mission aimed at repatriating Venezuelan nationals affected by the earthquake," he indicated.
Belaunde, together with Ministers Carlos Espa (Foreign Affairs) and Cesar Astudillo (Interior), witnessed the deportation of the Venezuelan nationals at Air Group No. 8.
They were identified as Edinson Agustin Barrera, alias "Catire"; Rodismel Jose Alcantara Brito, alias "Rodi"; and Rafael Sorrilla Velasquez, alias "Rafa."
The three foreign nationals had served prison sentences for illegal possession of firearms, offenses against public order, and offenses against public health.
Their deportation was carried out under Legislative Decrees No. 1350 and No. 1582, which authorize the measure for foreign nationals who have completed their prison sentences.
The three were escorted by Peruvian National Police (PNP) agents.
During the press conference, the Defense Minister also announced that, by order of the President, the Armed Forces will begin guarding border crossings to prevent criminals from re-entering Peruvian territory.
