National Elections Board (JNE) Chairman Roberto Burneo urged political organizations, their candidates, party members, and supporters to act with calm, responsibility, and democratic respect during Sunday's June 7 presidential runoff election.

In a message posted on the JNE's official social media accounts, the JNE head said the electoral process requires the commitment of all those involved to ensure an orderly and respectful Election Day.

"I would like to call on all citizens to stay informed and participate responsibly. I likewise urge polling station members to fulfill the important duty entrusted to them in a timely manner," Burneo stated.

"I also call on political organizations, their candidates, members, and supporters to act with calm, responsibility, and democratic respect," he added.

The electoral authority said democracy is strengthened through public participation, respect for voting rules, and recognition of "the decision freely expressed by the citizenry."

The JNE head indicated that the institution has strengthened oversight and monitoring efforts nationwide through the deployment of thousands of electoral monitors, enhanced risk management, and closer coordination with the agencies that make up the country's election system.

It should be noted that the JNE has deployed 28,000 electoral monitors to verify compliance with the restrictions in force on Election Day.

In addition, the agency previously reported that it will oversee the 44 polling places reassigned for this presidential runoff election as part of the monitoring it will carry out at more than 10,300 voting centers nationwide.
