The international deployment of electoral materials for the 2026 presidential runoff election was successfully completed on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported.

The 1,859 packages delivered by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) to the Ministry have already reached the various consular offices. These will subsequently be transported to the 219 polling places to be set up for Peruvians residing abroad.

To ensure timely delivery to locations facing complex logistical challenges, the Ministry arranged for diplomatic service officials to personally transport electoral supplies to strategic destinations such as Havana (Cuba), Moscow (Russia), Pretoria (South Africa), Beijing (China), and Leticia (Colombia).

For the presidential runoff election, seven polling places have been established in six Middle East countries: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, and Qatar.

In addition, 19 polling places in different jurisdictions have been reorganized to serve voters more efficiently.

These measures respond to the growing interest among Peruvians residing abroad in participating in democratic processes.

During the first round of voting, 411,077 Peruvians cast their ballots, resulting in a turnout rate of 33.9%, higher than the 22.8% recorded in the 2021 General elections.

Through these efforts, the Peruvian State is ensuring adequate and secure conditions for Election Day at the 2,506 polling tables to be set up across 63 countries.

Finally, the Ministry reiterated its call for citizens appointed as polling station members to arrive promptly at their designated polling places, thereby contributing to the timely and orderly start of the electoral process.
