Upon arrival, the Head of State was greeted with a standing ovation from attendees, who expressed their affection and support as she entered the stand of honor.
The top official was accompanied at the ceremony by Prime Minister Luis Galarreta and Cabinet members.
Senior military commanders and national authorities also attended.
Among those present at the honor stand were Senate Chairman Miguel Torres, Judiciary Chairwoman Janet Tello, National Elections Board Chair Roberto Burneo, and other high-ranking authorities.
During today's military parade, retired Peruvian National Police General and current Senator Marco Miyashiro marched past the stand of honor, leading the Special Intelligence Group (GEIN).
Likewise, retired Army General Cesar Astudillo, now serving as Interior Minister, marched as part of the rescue unit involved in the 1997 Operation Chavin de Huantar.
As the Chavin de Huantar Company marched past, the Head of State, visibly moved, watched the troops pass with military bearing.
At the conclusion of this event, which lasted nearly four hours, the President walked several blocks along Brasil Avenue to greet members of the public and bid farewell to spectators gathered in the grandstands and nearby buildings.
Afterwards, the top official boarded an official vehicle, from which she continued greeting the public before departing the area.
Earlier in the day, the President began her official activities by participating in the ceremony during which she was officially recognized as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Peruvian National Police.
The Grand Civic-Military Parade is one of Peru's most anticipated patriotic events every year. It marks the conclusion of the country's Independence Day celebrations.
The Ministry of Defense announced the participation of some 3,000 people, including members of the Armed Forces, the National Police, and invited institutions.
