Peru: President Balcazar attends Mass marking first year of Pope Leo XIV's pontificate

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, participated in a Holy Mass marking the first year of Pope Leo XIV's pontificate.

The ceremony was held outside Chiclayo Cathedral in Lambayeque region, northern Peru, Friday evening.

The Head of State was accompanied by Prime Minister Luis Arroyo and Cabinet members.

Civil society representatives and authorities from this region took part in the ceremony as well.

The Mass was led by Monsignor Edinson Farfan, who highlighted that Pope Leo XIV promotes a Catholic Church that listens and fosters a united community that trusts in Jesus Christ's love.

As is known, the Supreme Pontiff was born in the United States but also holds Peruvian nationality.

His Holiness is expected to visit Peru on a date yet to be scheduled.

President's agenda

President Balcazar carried out a busy agenda on Friday.



In the afternoon, he arrived in Lambayeque, where he visited the facilities of the Specialized Comprehensive Service for Family Violence.
