During the meeting held on Tuesday, the Head of State thanked JICA's president for his visit and commitment.
Likewise, the top official underscored her willingness to strengthen cooperation efforts for the benefit of our country.
In turn, the Japanese senior official stated that the meeting with President Fujimori helped further strengthen the cooperation ties between the two countries.
"This meeting was also an opportunity to discuss how Japan can assist Peru in preparing the country for natural disasters," Tanaka stated.
Moreover, he explained that JICA provides three types of cooperation, one of which focuses on prevention and preparedness before an earthquake or other natural disaster occurs.
The second involves implementing international cooperation mechanisms to provide immediate humanitarian assistance.
The third focuses on long-term preparations to minimize the number of people affected and deaths caused by natural disasters, the Japanese official said.
Ministers Carlos Espa (Foreign Affairs) and Marco Vinelli (Agrarian Development and Irrigation) attended the working meeting as well.
