Representatives of the Executive Branch and members of the U.S. House of Representatives held a working meeting to deepen the strategic partnership between Peru and the United States and strengthen dialogue between their authorities.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lima.
It was chaired by Peru's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Eric Anderson.
The bipartisan U.S. congressional delegation was led by House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Andrew Garbarino, who participated alongside five other legislators.
Representing Peru were also the Deputy Ministers of Defense Policies and Internal Order, from the Defense and Interior ministries, respectively, and the Director of National Intelligence.
"The meeting addressed issues of priority interest to both countries, including security and defense cooperation and the fight against transnational organized crime, matters reflected in Peru's participation in the 'Shield of the Americas,'" the Ministry reported.
Finally, it underscored that the meeting reaffirmed Peru's role as a strategic partner and reliable friend of the United States.
