Tourist signage works at Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, located in Urubamba province, Cusco region, have been completed, the
Investment Executing Unit for Foreign Trade and Tourism (UICET) at the
Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported.
According to UICET, completion of the project—titled "Improvement of public tourism services in tourism resources at Machu Picchu Archaeological Park"—marks a significant step toward enhancing the visitor experience at one of the world's most iconic destinations.
The agency said the main component of the intervention focused on tourist signage, a key element for orderly management and visitor navigation within a site of Machu Picchu’s scale.
UICET indicated the works required an investment of S/339,062.35 (about US$100,000) and were carried out by the Machu Picchu consortium. The project directly benefits 1,626,075 people and is already operational.

What works were implemented?
The project included the installation of 181 signs strategically placed along three established circuits within the llaqta (citadel), as well as on Machu Picchu mountains, Huayna Picchu, Huchuypicchu, and along the route to the Inca Bridge.
UICET detailed that the signage covers various categories, including interpretive panels, orientation signs, special signage, and directories.
These elements are designed to improve the visitor experience, facilitate movement, and promote a deeper understanding of the archaeological site.
Finally, UICET stated that "completion of the project underscores its commitment to sustainable tourism development in Peru, ensuring quality infrastructure and services that enhance visitor satisfaction while contributing to the preservation of cultural and natural heritage."
The agency added that improved signage at Machu Picchu represents another step in consolidating Peru as a world-class tourism destination.
