Peru's agro-exports would exceed US$16 billion in 2026, consolidating the South American country as one of the world's leading food suppliers, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Jose Reyes stated.

He made the remarks on Tuesday, during the official launch of Expoalimentaria 2026, organized by the Peruvian Exporters Association (ADEX).

In his remarks, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism's (Mincetur) head highlighted the sector's dynamism and its impact on the national economy.

The government official noted that Peru's agro-exports exceeded US$15 billion in 2025, an 18.4% increase compared to the previous year, positioning the South American country as the world's seventh-largest exporter of fresh fruit.

He added that this momentum has continued in 2026 as shipments totaled US$2.227 billion in the first two months of 2026. This is a 7.1% increase over the same period in 2025, driven by avocado, blueberry, and grape exports.

The minister indicated that Peru's trade agreements network is being strengthened through ongoing negotiations with India, Thailand, El Salvador, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Cabinet member added that during the current administration, the internal process to bring into force agreements with Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Guatemala will be completed, alongside the optimization of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China.

At this edition of Expoalimentaria, Mincetur is participating by means of a pavilion from the Productive Export Route (RPE), where 18 organizations, as well as micro- and small enterprises (MSEs), will showcase their exportable offer.

This initiative provides technical assistance to over 600 organizations across 22 Peruvian regions, benefiting over 70,000 families.

Additionally, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperu) will have a strategic presence at the Peru Pavilion, where 16 companies will showcase an innovative and diversified offer to international buyers, strengthening trade promotion and the country brand's positioning in global markets.

This event brought together Deputy Foreign Trade Minister Cesar Llona, ADEX Chairman Cesar Tello, Promperu Executive President Freddy Solano, CIEN-ADEX Director Edgar Vasquez, along with authorities, business leaders, and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Peru.

Expoalimentaria 2026 will be held at the Jockey Exhibition Center in Lima from September 23 to 25, consolidating itself as a key platform for trade linkages, innovation, and the internationalization of the South American country's offer.

In its previous edition, it brought together more than 730 exhibitors and 1,600 international buyers, generating business expectations exceeding US$905 million.
