The Peruvian government issued a statement following the placement of the Bolivian flag on the flagpole of a rural community in Chucuito province, Puno region, southern Peru.

Through Communiqué No. 005-26, released on X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the neighboring country's flag placed on Peruvian territory was immediately removed by national authorities.

"In full exercise of national sovereignty over that locality, personnel from the Peruvian National Police and the Peruvian Army arrived at that population center, and the Bolivian flag was duly and immediately removed," the ministry stated.

It added that the action took place after the government became aware of the Plurinational State of Bolivia's flag placement on the flagpole at the rural community's pier in Isani, Zepita district, Chucuito province, Puno region.

In the statement, the government reiterated "its firm commitment to strengthening cooperation, integration, and development among our communities in the border area with the sister nation of Bolivia."
