The Peruvian Ancash region is preparing to experience one of its most important tourism seasons during Holy Week 2026, which will take place in April.

According to estimates by the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur), approximately 113,000 visitors are expected to arrive during the four-day long holiday (April 2-5).

Ancash consolidates its position as one of the country's main destinations during this period.

This region offers a wide range of tourist destinations that combine nature, culture, and adventure.

In the highlands, Huascaran National Park stands out, renowned for its stunning high-mountain landscapes, turquoise lakes, and snow-capped mountains; as well as the Chavin de Huantar Archaeological Complex, one of the main ceremonial centers of pre-Inca culture.

Added to this are charming towns such as Chacas, known for its Andean architecture, living traditions, and wood craftsmanship.

On the coast, Ancash offers attractive alternatives for visitors, particularly its beaches.

Among the most visited are El Dorado Beach, in Nuevo Chimbote, which stands out for its inclusive access and new viewpoint; Vesique Beach, in Samanco, appreciated for its calm waters and varied gastronomic offerings; Tuquillo Beach, in Huarmey, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Peru; and Tortugas Beach, in Casma, recognized for its seafood cuisine and family-friendly atmosphere.

Dircetur Chief Pedro Vargas noted that Ancash has two "Charming Towns" recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur): Chavin de Huantar and Chacas, which reinforces its positioning as a cultural destination.

Moreover, the official highlighted that the region was recognized as the Best Adventure Destination 2025, thanks to its geographic diversity and wide range of outdoor activities.

"With the aim of ensuring a safe and high-quality experience for all visitors, we will carry out inspection operations before and during Holy Week, aimed at combating informality and ensuring that tourism services meet appropriate standards," he stated.

Ancash positions itself as a comprehensive destination offering unique experiences in both the highlands and the coast, inviting thousands of visitors to discover its natural, historical, and cultural richness during this important festive season.
