The First National Preparatory Investigation Court rescheduled the hearing for the control of the
indictment of former President Alejandro Toledo for December 13, starting at 5:00 p.m. (local time), in the investigation against him in the Interoceanic Highway case, stretch 4.
The court made this decision to allow the Public Ministry to review various pieces of documentary evidence in the proceedings against Toledo and other defendants for the crime of collusion.
According to prosecutorial investigations, the former top official allegedly received US$6 million as a bribe from Brazilian construction company Camargo y Correa to secure the awarding of the Interoceanic Highway's stretch 4.
Based on the investigations, there are e-mails seized from Marcos de Moura Wanderley that refer to said bribe.
The Special Prosecutor's Team for the Odebrecht and Lava Jato Cases has requested a 35-year prison sentence for Toledo Manrique by charging him with the alleged crimes of aggravated collusion and money laundering to the detriment of the Peruvian State.
