The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday affirmed that her Government will not privatize Petroperu, since the State-owned company supplies fuel to every corner of the country where private companies do not have access.

"We are not going to privatize Petroperu. It is the only company that supplies fuel to areas such as Purus and Güeppi, where private companies do not reach," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

"It is our responsibility to ensure that fuel reaches the most remote places of our homeland, allowing our brothers and sisters who rely on their motorcycles or small vehicles to move their economies forward, to continue being served," she added.

Subsequently, the President indicated that the appointment of officials who can help find the necessary solutions to revive the State-owned oil company will be evaluated.

"We know that PetroPeru's board of directors resigned this morning. We have to appoint officials to that board who love the country and who work to generate solutions and opportunities aimed at solving the current problems," she underlined.

The top official underscored that her administration is working hard and with total dedication to advance the only strategic company that the nation has, which has sustained the country's economy on several occasions.

"The company's problems did not start yesterday, but several years ago. The causes may be diverse: corruption, inefficiency, incompetence. However, our Government is determined to restore Petroperu to its former status," she underlined.

In this regard, the top official asserted that the Government will continue working to reduce poverty gaps, which were not generated recently, as it is a historic problem.

"Our Government will remain committed to reducing poverty, including multidimensional poverty. We are focused on providing access to water and sanitation, improving health care (services), as well as building better hospitals, roads, and bridges so that citizens can get their products to markets and boost their economy," she pointed out.
