Prime Minister Ernesto Alvarez said the government's responsibilities include ensuring transparent elections, combating insecurity, as well as safeguarding the economic and political stability achieved in the country.

"The government has essential tasks: to ensure transparent elections, combat insecurity, as well as guarantee the economic and political stability that we had already achieved," Alvarez stated.

The high-ranking official reaffirmed the Executive Branch's political decision to confront crime and to lay the groundwork so that the next government can continue this effort with sustainable results.

"We are willing to commit to winning the first battle against this scourge, but it will be up to the next government to win the war. We want to reach July with political stability and hand over power to someone who is honest and who will help establish a new chapter for our country," Alvarez expressed.

The Cabinet chief noted his decision to accept the post of Prime Minister responds to a commitment to the country, amid a panorama when the nation was going through a critical situation.

"My commitment is to the country. I said so when I took on this challenge. I accepted it because it was a time of crisis and profound instability," he stated.

The Cabinet chief also warned that any potential interruption of the government would create a climate of uncertainty, particularly at a time when the country is in the midst of an electoral process.

"If President Jeri's government falls, we will plunge into deep chaos, because no one will want to assume that responsibility amid an election campaign, and it would fall to a congressman with no electoral ambitions and no political party," he added.
