00:00 | Lima, Apr. 7.

The Chairman of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) and head of the Organizing Committee for the VIII Lima 2027 Parapan American Games, Sergio Ludena, met with his counterpart at the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC), Julio Cesar Avila, along with his delegation, to hold their first working session.

The meeting aims to join efforts to ensure the success of the competition, which for the second time will bring together the continent's top para-athletes in the capital of Peru.

"It is a pleasure to welcome you to begin this working session, which is essential to consolidating the roadmap toward the Lima 2027 Parapan American Games," Ludeña said.

“We take on this challenge with the seriousness that guides the para-sport movement, the most inspiring on the continent, and with the backing of the government, which has ratified this organization as a national priority. Our goal is to turn our capital into the greatest example of para-sport and a barrier-free society," he noted.

The chairman also announced that the high-performance venues managed by the IPD are ready to host the Games.

"Lima has world-class infrastructure. We have five high-level venues such as the National Sports Village (Videna), Villa Maria del Triunfo, the Lucha Fuentes Sports Complex in Lima's Villa El Salvador, Punta Rocas, and Costa Verde, as well as the Pan American Village, which is ready to accommodate all delegations," he indicated.

"Grateful for such kindness and hospitality, and to the Peruvian government. We had been eagerly awaiting this opportunity to meet the team and learn what you are doing to join efforts," AmPC Chairman Julio Cesar Avila stated.

"Peru is preparing a worthy setting for more than 2,000 para-athletes from the continent to compete. This year we will have the Valledupar 2026 South American Para Games, which serve as qualifiers for Lima 2027 and strengthen the Americas Paralympic Committee as a solid structure for the development of para-sport in our region," he added.

The Organizing Committee of the VIII Lima 2027 Parapan American Games is also composed of IPD Technical Secretary and General Manager Juan Lizarraga; Peruvian Paralympic Committee Chairwoman Luisa Villar; Para-Athletes' Representative Jorge Arcela; and Lima Metropolitan Municipality Representative Hans Caiazza.

At the session, organizers presented progress and addressed key aspects such as the sports schedule, competition venues, routes, and overall planning, with the aim of ensuring the success of the Games, which Peru will host for the second time in its history.
