17:59 | Paracas (Ica region), Oct. 10.
Presidents Martin Vizcarra (Peru) and Sebastian Piñera (Chile) on Thursday signed a joint declaration
in support of Ecuadorian counterpart Lenin Moreno, in light of the recent acts of violence that have occurred in Ecuador.
In this sense, both leaders expressed total support for democracy and the rule of law, adding they energetically reject any attempt to destabilize Ecuador's democratic process.
Likewise, Vizcarra and Piñera welcomed the efforts to open spaces for dialogue and understanding in a bid to channel social organizations' demands through peaceful means.
The signing took place within the framework of the 3rd Peru-Chile Binational Cabinet held in Paracas (Ica region).
As is known,
protests and riots in Ecuador erupted a week ago when Moreno cut fuel subsidies as part of a package of measures in line with a US$4.2 billion loan deal with the International Monetary Fund.
The Ecuadorian Head of State has relocated his government base to Guayaquil due to anti-government protests in Quito.
