The Public Ministry and Odebrecht have signed a collaboration agreement enabling the company to
on corruption cases involving the Brazilian construction corporation and Peruvian citizens, Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group Coordinator Rafael Vela has affirmed.
Within this framework, a team of Prosecutors will visit Brazil in order to extend the interrogation of Odebrecht's former top executive in Peru
Jorge Barata.
"As a result of the signed accord, statements have been scheduled for January 14-18, including
Jorge Barata's testimony. We will carry out over 20 proceedings in Brazil," Vela told Cuarto Poder TV show on Sunday night.
Likewise, it will enable the document delivery from My Web Day and Drousys servers used by the Division of Structured Operations —the Brazilian corporation's bribery department.
Furthermore, the agreement also includes an admission of guilt by Odebrecht and an obligation to pay civil reparations.
Odebrecht
As is known, the Brazilian construction giant admitted to having paid millions in bribes to government officials in Peru, in order to secure public-works contracts.
As a result, Odebrecht benefited from over US$143 million between 2005 and 2014 in Peru, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
