The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday afternoon confirmed that COVID-19-related deaths total 943 to date.
Likewise, positive cases amount to 33,931 —out of a total of 296,262 samples taken.
Within this framework, the Head of State specified that positive samples account for 11% of the total.
It must be noted 4,289 patients are hospitalized, 623 of whom are under mechanical ventilation.
According to the Health Ministry, 10,037 people have been clinically discharged and declared healthy.
Concerning the deaths due to this disease, he explained that the worldwide mortality rate reaches 7% of the total infected people, while in Peru it stands at 2.74%.
"That is real, statistical and verifiable information, which indicates that the efforts all Peruvians have made, are paying off. We don't say this is over yet, but that should lead us to redoubling our efforts in order to get out of this stage," he stressed.
The statesman also noted that the indicators were reduced significantly and that it should boost the necessary effort to continue fighting this war, emphasizing that thanks to everyone's determination and with the necessary corrections "we are on the right path" to move forward.
