The
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has confirmed that Christian Salazar, Director of the Field Operations and Technical Cooperation Division at his office, will arrive in Peru on an official visit, in response to an invitation made by the Peruvian Government.
According to the Permanent Representation of Peru in Geneva, the official visit to the South American country will take place from January 18 to 20.
Similarly, Ambassador Chuquihuara conveyed the Peruvian Government's political will to guarantee social peace in the country and ensure respect for all citizens' human rights.
For his part, Türk expressed his understanding of the situation in the country, as well as his commitment to continue cooperating with Peru.
In addition, he noted the Peruvian Government's will and commitment to comply with its obligations and international standards in the field of human rights, stressing that eventual excesses should be investigated in accordance with the law and independently.
