On her second day of official activities in Nice, the
following an invitation from the French Head of State for a bilateral working visit —the first in the past decade.
The aim was to reinforce political relations, promote French investment in Peru, as well as strengthen security, environmental cooperation, and health, among others.
During the meeting on Tuesday,
President Boluarte expressed the high value that Peru places on its relationship with France, a country with which it shares democratic principles, environmental vision, and sustainable development goals.
President Macron thanked the Peruvian Head of State for her presence and highlighted her participation in the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), as well as Peru's commitment to the protection of oceans, marine biodiversity, and their sustainability.
Similarly, Mr. Macron emphasized France's willingness to strengthen the bilateral relationship in matters of defense and security, including the fight against drug trafficking and transnational organized crime, which affects both countries.
In turn, the Peruvian President highlighted the positive results of the government-to-government agreements signed with France in road, hospital, and electrical infrastructure, which will benefit hundreds of thousands of Peruvians.
Likewise, Mrs. Boluarte invited the expansion of French investment in Peru, taking into account the South American country's economic stability and the opportunities it offers.
Peru's top official also referred to the successful conclusion of negotiations on the bilateral agreement for the elimination of double taxation, whose upcoming signing and subsequent entry into force should further boost and expand economic activity between both countries.
