Peru's President-elect Pedro Castillo participates in meetings to speed up the transfer-of-power process. The gatherings take place at the Lima Convention Center in the capital’s San Borja district.
One of the persons convened by the President-elect was former legislator Roger Najar, who affirmed that once sworn in, the President of the Republic shall decide who will join him at the Executive Branch.
"The President (-elect) has called me to address transfer-of-power issues," the ex-lawmaker expressed.
When asked about the appointment of the new prime minister he said: "First of all, he (
Pedro Castillo) has to be sworn in as President of the Republic. After that, he will decide who will lead the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) and the (Ministerial) Cabinet."
Also participating in the meetings are First Vice President-elect Dina Boluarte —who is in charge of the transfer-of power process— technical team members Hernando Cevallos and Pedro Francke, as well as Peru Libre Secretary-General Vladimir Cerron, among other important figures.
Bajar clarified that Vladirmir Cerron is not part of the incoming government's transfer-of-power process.
"Vladimir Cerron is the political party's secretary-general, and he is not barred from doing so (from meeting with Castillo). He is not part of the transition team, but coordinates various political activities," the politician explained.
