Peru's Prime Minister meets with predecessor to coordinate transition process

Peru's Prime Minister Mirtha Vasquez on Monday held a meeting with her predecessor, Guido Bellido, to coordinate the details of the transition process within the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).

"The Prime Minister thanked him for his work as head of the institution," the PCM wrote on Twitter.

Bellido served as head of the Cabinet from July 29 to October 6 this year. Afterwards, he was replaced in the post by the current Prime Minister Mirtha Vasquez.

Bellido's resignation

In a televised Address to the Nation on October 6, the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo announced that he had accepted the resignation of Guido Bellido as Prime Minister of Peru.

In his speech, the Head of State underscored that the separation of powers is the bridge between the rule of law and democracy, adding that tranquility and cohesion must be ensured in the Government.
