The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday affirmed he will not surrender to the threats that may exist in the country.

"Peru has brought us to contribute to the homeland, to the country, by fighting (threats) so that our fellow citizens can live in peace," Mr. Castillo said during the graduation ceremony of ensigns from the Naval Academy of Peru.

While addressing graduates, the Commander-in-Chief called on them to feel proud of belonging to one of the nation's tutelary institutions.

Likewise, the Head of State reminded them that the journey has just begun, adding that they will surely face obstacles.

"However, difficulties are the ones which toughen us and put our convictions, our morale, our determination, our courage, and our love for Peru to the test," he emphasized.

According to the top official, the efforts to be undertaken by them will demand exclusive dedication, austere life, leadership, and attachment to patriotic values.

"Just like our greatest naval hero, Mr. Miguel Grau Seminario, said at (the Battle of) Angamos: nobody surrenders on this ship. Follow his example and don't surrender to adversity," Mr. Castillo emphasized.

"We will not surrender to the threats that may emerge to the detriment of the country," he pointed out.

Similarly, the President reiterated his call to continue working in unity and lay the foundations which lead towards building a more just, equitable, and sustainable country.
