17:15 | Chota (Cajamarca region), Sep. 13.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday affirmed that it is time that the country's economic growth observed in recent years be in balance with development.

"There are people who do not want to see the country develop because they have got used to saying that Peru is experiencing economic growth. It is time to strike balance between the country's growth and development," he said.

In addition, the Head of State mentioned that today his Government fulfilled its commitment to awarding the Yanapay (Help) Peru grant, which is intended to support families in situation of vulnerability.

Nevertheless, he admitted that the payment of an economic subsidy is not enough, as reported by the people of his region, who demand jobs, economic revival, and stability.

"That is why we came, and that is why we are here, in Chota, where I want to announce that we will take up the fight to retrieve the Camisea gas for all Peruvians," he expressed.

The Peruvian leader made these remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of the new facility of the National Autonomous University of Chota (UNACH).

In his speech, Mr. Castillo mentioned that he has held meetings with authorities of San Marcos University and the National Engineering University (UNI) to discuss the signing of agreements that would allow Chota students to study and get trained in their own land.

During the event —held at Chota's Main Square— the President was granted the Keys of the City and was named its Favorite Son.
