Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti has stressed the need to coordinate efforts between public and private sectors to plan out the vaccination process in the country.

"Thank you very much for being part of this group. What we will face in the coming months is an almost unprecedented challenge. The scale and complexity of this vaccination process is something that did not happen in the past, which requires new approaches and new ways to deal with it," he said.

At the installation ceremony, the Head of State highlighted the valuable work and efforts made by some sectors of the State and the private one, noting that it was time to coordinate efforts and mechanisms to carry out this difficult vaccination process to prevent COVID-19.

"What we have to do —and we have already discussed this with some of you— is to anticipate. We cannot wait for problems to show up. We have to consider possible scenarios and work with anticipation, on the planning, management, and systems tools," he emphasized.

Precisely, some of the working group's tasks are to propose logistical actions aimed at implementing the vaccination process; follow up and systematize the actions undertaken; as well as propose measures that contribute to meeting its goals.

In this regard, President Sagasti pointed out that specific distribution systems shall be implemented for the different regions across the country during the vaccination process, based on the characteristics of each vaccine to be purchased by Peru.

For her part, Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez affirmed that the installation of this working group represents a joint effort, involving various entities from public and private sectors, to support and strengthen the implementation of the national vaccination plan.

"The success of this process depends on all of the members of this working group, as well as regional governments. Let us work in a coordinated manner," she stated.
