on Wednesday deemed as essential strengthening scientific research nationwide, adding that it must meet international high-quality standards.
Within this framework, the Head of State argued that an enormous effort should be made in the face of climate change impacts.
"On this subject we must generate knowledge on how to preserve ecosystems, use them in the best way to face different eventualities in climate change," Mr. Sagasti emphasized.
"We must accelerate the transformation of scientific discoveries into
technological developments and innovation, both in the productive and service sectors. It is essential to strengthen research networks and work with them," he added.
Remarks were made during the first extraordinary session for the presentation of the first report titled "Actions for the scientific and
technological empowerment of Peru" prepared by the Advisory Commission on Science, Technology and Innovation.
The chairmen of National Council for Science and Technological Innovation (Concytec) Benjamin Marticorena; the National Assembly of Regional Governments Carlos Rua; and the Advisory Commission Cesar Camacho; as well as State ministers and members of said working group attended the event.
According to the statesman, the outcome of this report will be one of the legacies to be left to the next administration, which will take office on July 28, 2021.
