The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday affirmed that his Government is not going to be vanquished and will go on.

"If Tacna was not vanquished, this Government will not be vanquished either. If Tacna was not vanquished, this Government will always go on," the Head of State pointed out.

His remarks were made in a cultural ceremony held within the framework of the 93rd anniversary of Tacna's reincorporation into Peru, which took place at the Government Palace in Lima.

Mr. Castillo emphasized that he will fulfill the mandate that the people gave him at the polls.

Afterwards, he reiterated his commitment to continue working for development and economic revival of the most vulnerable sectors across the country.

"As the historian (Jorge) Basadre once said, Peru is a problem, but also a possibility. And this Government is a possibility for all Peruvians," he underlined.

The dignitary said he is grateful and proud of what Tacna does. He also reaffirmed that his administration is at the service of Peruvians and keen to receive authorities from all corners of the country.

Moreover, he remarked that Tacna never gave in in the face of adversity and remained loyal to Peru despite the years it was under Chilean administration.

"Tacna is an example of Peruvian identity and patriotism because its inhabitants always acted with the homeland in mind. It is an expression of bravery and courage, it is a land filled with art, music, gastronomy, and tourist destinations. It is where the homeland is born," the top official stated.
