Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday highlighted the work carried out by firefighters in the country and reiterated the Government's commitment to supporting them.

The delivered supplies included 939 high-quality PPE items, which will benefit 64 volunteer fire departments in Lima and Callao.

According to Mr. Sagasti, this delivery is intended to close gaps in the acquisitions that have not been met.

The top official highlighted the selfless dedication and sacrifice that firefighters show when carrying out their work.

"These are true examples of their vocation for service," he pointed out.

This vocation for service, he added, must characterize all Peruvians.

He also noted that some 3,255 women serve in the different fire departments, that is, they make up 20% of the staff, which contributes to gender equality.

During the event, held on Tuesday morning, the Head of State was accompanied by Interior Minister Jose Elice and authorities of the Peruvian General Volunteer Firefighters Department.
