The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte indicated that Attorney General Patricia Benavides has lost the objectivity required to continue holding that position.

"I think that the Attorney General must respond to this entire investigation that took us by surprise a few days ago, very early in the morning; I think she has lost the objectivity (required) to remain in office," she expressed.

The Head of State made these remarks from Chimbote, Ancash region, on Wednesday after having participated in a ceremony marking the delivery of 3,791 title deeds and in the keel-laying ceremony for two maritime patrol vessels.

"She has lost the objectivity to do a coherent job. We demand that everything be clarified so that Peru can resume its institutional framework," Mrs. Boluarte indicated.

Last Tuesday, Prime Minister Alberto Otarola said he will request the Attorney General to withdraw from the investigation that involves President Boluarte and him in the deaths that occurred during the protests held from December 2022 to March 2023.

The Attorney General filed a constitutional complaint against the Head of State and the Cabinet chief as citizens allegedly responsible for said events.
