Peru's President announces meeting with Congress Chairman

A meeting between the President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra and Parliament Chairman Manuel Merino will be held on September 28, the Head of State himself confirmed on Saturday.



The Head of State indicated that Prime Minister Walter Martos was coordinating the meeting requested by Merino, who will be accompanied Parliament's Board members.

A session of the Council of State at the Lima-based Government Palace is also called for Monday. At the event, details of the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures to be in force this October will be addressed. This meeting is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

Today, President Vizcarra visits Puno, Tacna, and Moquegua regions, where he supervises the start-up of health centers aimed at providing care to COVID-19 patients.

During his visit to the COVID-19 Hospital in Viñani (Tacna), the top official stressed that the key to success in facing the pandemic is to work together and set as example the Regional Government, the Ministry of Health, and the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud), which joined efforts to provide better care to citizens.
