The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) reported that the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) collected S/1.037 billion (about US$309.1 million) from operations carried out at the Port of Chancay during 2025, reflecting the growing prominence of this infrastructure in the country's foreign trade.

The government agency noted that 60% of the revenue was concentrated in the second half of last year, with October recording the highest collection, at more than S/121.3 million (about US$36.2 million).

This performance allowed the Chancay Customs Intendency to rank sixth nationwide in terms of customs revenue collection.

Revenue was driven mainly by vehicle imports, mostly of Asian origin, which generated S/247.1 million (about US$73.7 million).

They were followed by bulk imports (S/233.3 million; about US$69.5 million), machinery (S/217.5 million; about US$64.8 million), and other categories which, combined, contributed S/349.6 million (about US$104.2 million).

Regarding operations volume, the highest number of import declarations was recorded between June and December. In this regard, August stood out with 2,936 declarations, followed by December with 2,975.

In the case of exports, the highest figures were recorded in July and August, with 1,463 and 1,313 declarations, respectively.

A total of 1,873 importers channeled their operations through the Port of Chancay during 2025.

Likewise, 126,384 transshipment TEUs were handled, with China as the main port of origin and shipments destined for other maritime terminals across the region, consolidating Chancay as a relevant logistics hub on the Pacific coast.

Economy and Finance Minister Denisse Miralles emphasized that these results reflect not only the Port of Chancay's growing dynamism, but also the strategic importance of this infrastructure for Peru's foreign trade, as well as the strengthening of control, facilitation, and oversight actions carried out by Sunat.

"The performance of the Port of Chancay demonstrates how modern infrastructure, combined with efficient customs management, helps boost trade, strengthen revenue collection, and enhance the country's competitiveness," she concluded.
