Peru's GDP growth projection for 2Q 2018 revised upwards

00:08 | Lima, Jul. 18.

Privately-run banking institution Banco de Credito (BCP) has raised its Peru GDP growth forecast for the second quarter of 2018 from 5% to 6%.

According to BCP Economic Studies Department, the recovery in the economic activity would be the outcome of an increase in the Inca country's terms of trade.

It must be noted this result would mark eight quarters of consecutive growth.

Furthermore, the financial institution highlighted said outcome contributes to a positive trend in tax revenues.

"Last May, the economic activity grew 6.4% and, as in April, it exceeded analysts' forecast," BCP indicated.

"Thus, national GDP may increase nearly 6% in the second quarter of this year, registering its highest growth rate in 18 quarters," it added.
