The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday called on Congress to prioritize the debate on the bill submitted by the Executive Branch to prevent people with pending issues, due to corruption, from participating in elections.

"Within the framework of unity, we urge that we put ourselves at the forefront of this demand and what the population demands," Mr. Castillo expressed.

In this sense, the Head of State reminded citizens that regional and municipal elections will be held this year. Thus, it is important to elect transparent authorities.

Similarly, the top official called on Congress to make an effort to approve the expansion of the budget for agriculture at the national level.

"We can't go back on the demands of the people," he said after noting that the Government has taken the lead so that natural gas reaches every corner of Peru, and costs of electricity, water and phone services are reduced.

Likewise, the President insisted on summoning mayors so that no minor is left without school enrollment, since education is a right.

Remarks were made from Lima's Ventanilla district, where he arrived for the presentation of the 450th soup kitchen with free-of-charge connection to natural gas supply thanks to the Bonogas Program.

There, the dignitary stressed the need for children to be well fed, based on a nutritional program, noting that this favors better learning, as well as the development of talents and skills.
