Peru will have a total of 3.8 million vaccine doses this May, which will enable the South American country to meet the objective of immunizing older adults aged above 60 nationwide by the end of June,
The official said that very intense work is being carried out in Lima with district mayors in order to activate vaccination centers in their jurisdictions.
He added that next weekend —May 23 to 25— the immunization will continue in 27 districts of these jurisdictions.
"There is a lot of commitment from the families. Besides, we have seen plenty of joy and hope in those over 80, who have had a very emotional day that encourages us to continue working," he stressed.
Granados explained that adults —who have not been vaccinated to date— are those who cannot get immunized following a medical evaluation, while others —who have mobility problems— did not get the corresponding information or simply did not want to be immunized.
