The Head of State said the time is coming for a return to in-person classes —an effort that requires joint work, both by authorities and the population, to have accessible and safe schools.
"As a Government and, especially as a teacher, we have a great responsibility. In Moquegua, there is also a double responsibility because the governor is a teacher," Mr. Castillo expressed.
"This task must be firmly assumed in order to wait for our students with adequate, healthy, and accessible educational institutions. This cannot be done just by looking at the minister, the Government, but with a joint effort involving authorities and the people standing united," he added.
The top official called on State ministers to make ministries accessible to mayors and the population, so as to assume responsibly the commitments that are reached and make transparent the capacity of each sector to respond to the population's needs.
Before regional and local authorities, the President said it is the responsibility of the Peruvian State to make a true decentralization effective, so that public resources reach out to the entire country and boost its development.
"Providing students with a quality education and ensuring health means regaining national sovereignty. We have just recovered Lot 1 in Piura; that is important; we are also going to recover Lot 192 and others (…)," he pointed out.
In this sense, the Head of State specified that last Thursday he had received a report from the commission in charge of the massive use of Camisea natural gas, adding that his administration is evaluating the possibility of accelerating this work, with the installation of a urea production plant.
In the Southern Macro-region, Mr. Castillo said that defining the implementation plan for Bolivian gas is pending.
